Chemistry (AP Edition)
by Steven S. Zumdahl
Publisher: Brooks/Cole Cengage Learning
Edition: 9th - 2014
Features of Chemistry, Ninth, AP EDITION: Conceptual learning and problem solving are fundamental to the approach of Chemistry. For the Ninth Edition, we have extended this emphasis by beginning the problem-solving approach in Chapter 1 (rather than Chapter 3 as in the Eighth Edition) to assist students as they learn to use dimensional analysis for unit conversions. Our philosophy is to help students learn to think like chemists so that they can apply the process of problem solving to all aspects of their lives. We give students the tools to become critical thinkers: to ask questions, to apply rules and models, and to evaluate the outcome. It was also our mission to create a media program that embodies this philosophy so that when teachers and students look online for either study aids or online homework, each resource supports the goals of the textbook-a strong emphasis on models, real-world applications, and visual learning. AP* SPECIAL FEATURES: The AP* Chemistry course has been redesigned for the academic year 2013-2014. In order to help both teachers and students with the new course, there are several AP-specific features in this edition. A correlation table connects AP Learning Objectives to the page numbers in Chemistry where those topics are discussed. New margin notes with AP-specific content have been added where appropriate. Multiple-choice questions in AP format have been added at the end of each chapter. A new Appendix has been added containing additional AP-specific content and referenced in the text where appropriate.
